Tribute to Warren Pulsipher

Uncle Warren

I want to tell you about my buddy,
My hunting partner and my friend.
My uncle who I delighted in
Who always had a hand to lend.

He had an outgoing personality,
He was always the one you wanted to be with.
He always had a joke to tell
And he gave my soul a lift.

I couldn’t wait to go to their house,
For he treated me so well.
He would take us to the ball games…
He always had a story to tell.

One time he got a phone call
And was quite awhile on the line…
Turns out it was a wrong number
But the woman needed someone to talk to at the time.

I remember when I was younger
Tim needed a bike to help his hip.
Uncle Warren went out and bought one
And sent it home from our Thanksgiving trip.

I remember another Thanksgiving
When the whole extended family went to their house.
We were sleeping on every inch of space
There was no room left, even for a mouse.

I remember sleeping under the kitchen table
And waiting in the bathroom line.
It is one of many fun times that I look back on
One of many of it’s kind!

For as long as I can remember-
I loved to go to Aunt Jackie’s and Uncle Warren’s…
For they always welcomed you into their home
With open hearts and open arms.

I was thinking of some WARREN-ISMS
The things he liked to say.
Memories that will make us smile
When we think back to Warren’s WAY!

“Did we have enough money in our pockets?”
“Had we washed our hands before we ate?”
“Was there a bullet in the chamber?”
-Start for home before too late.

“Did we gear down coming off the mountain?”
“Are we sure that deer we shot had horns?”
Don’t shoot before it is daylight…
Are you would answer to Uncle Warren!

He always said he hoped that caskets
were on sale when he passed away…
Or Aunt Jackie would put him in the freezer
And leave him there until sale day.

He would say that he had told the Bishop
That he should bring the tithing up with him,
Because he was sure that he could double it
But the Bishop never did give in!

And who here has not been asked to pull his finger?
And then paid the consequences of that choice.
And how could we forget the mischievous little smile
That was there even after he started to lose his voice!

But now I want to talk seriously
About the man we are here to remember today.
The man who was a spiritual giant
The man who walks with God this day.

There are probably hundreds of young men
Who through the years have called him coach.
Many lives which he has influenced
A man who was above reproach.

He seemed to have a way about him
That would reach deep into your soul.
You knew he truly cared about you
And his heart was made of gold.

For he could not see another’s need
Without stopping to lend a hand.
He was like the Good Samaritan
A wise and giving man.

He is someone who I am proud
To call my hunting partner and my friend,
My life is enriched by his memories
And I know for him, this is the beginning, not the end.

And although his earthly body
Had become so weak and frail,
His soul has left to walk with Jesus
Free from his body’s mortal Jail.

For today he is rejoicing with his loved ones
I think the reunion will be full of love and fun…
Then Heavenly Father will embrace him,
And Say “Welcome home… and Well Done.”
