Favorite Stirling Memory

Favorite Stirling Memory

Gregory Miller
Grandpa Stirling sitting in his chair by the window watching a base ball game on the TV while listening to another one on the Radio, and he could tell you everything that was happening on both of them. The time we were at Boulder dam, the fish were schooling near the spillway and Grandma Stirling voiced her concern that they were going to drown.

Leslye (Miller) Seal
Visiting Hurricane and playing pranks with all of the cousins (I thinks Aunt Sue was the instigator of many!). – Remember the funnel, the quarter and the water, or the bowl of beans(?) and then the flour? There are too many to put here so will give a couple. The camping trips, one time we were at Mammoth creek, Clayton told us that the trunks of pine trees smelled like strawberries or vanilla etc., so we were all smelling the trunks off the trees by the road, several cars went by very slowly, we probably looked really stupid. fishing on Posey Lake, that lasted for a long tine because Bob loved to bring it up to see Cherrie get mad all over again.

Cindy (Stirling) Perdue
Watching Grandma Stirling tell her sandwich story

Brad Stirling
Grandma telling the sandwich story.

Jamie (Stirling) Kittrell
I have so many fond memories of “family get togethers”, I remember a lot of laughter. I remember going to grandma’s house and she would always tell us to go into the kitchen and get a cracker (which always tasted better there). Janet (Stirling) Stewart
Hmmm.......A long ago Thanksgiving at Aunt Jack's (Lemon Grove house) with wall to wall relatives or maybe..... summers in Hurricane with partners in crime (the Old's gang) and staying one step ahead of the local cops

Clayton & Sue Olds
The most favorite Stirling memory has to be the year almost the whole family got together at Jackie and Warren's place for Thanksgiving and they had a two bedroom house with one bathroom. There were people sleeping in every inch of the house including under the table. Clayton's sister Pat was also living in San Diego and we went to stay with them one night. They had a large house with three bathrooms. Pam came in Pat's house soon after we got there and said ' I need to go the bathroom" I told her to go ahead and go into the bathroom and she said, " I don't need to stand in line first?" That is exactly what we had to do was to stand in line and wait our turn. That was the most wonderful Thanksgiving we ever had. Another Favorite memory was when Bob And Olin had to leave Thanksgiving Morning to ship overseas, so our mother fixed Thanksgiving Dinner and we ate at 7 am. Our Father always praised mom's cooking and when he tasted mom's carrot pudding and dip he said, "Thelma, you have out done yourself, this is delicious. When the next person tasted the dip they about threw up. and after checking mom found that she had used Italian bomb hand lotion instead of lemon flavoring. We have laughed about this many times. Then there was the sandwich joke that mom told so many times and laughed so hard while telling it that you could hardly understand anything she said, but no one could tell it quite like she could.

Pam Johnson
Summers when Aunt Mary & her kids were here and everyone else would come and we would cause trouble all the time—and after Aunt Cherrie & Uncle Olin went through the temple and we played practical jokes on them.

Interesting Stirling Fact: When Heath was born, Uncle Bob came by and wanted to know what we had named him. I told him Heath, he said Keith? I said no, Heath and he said, “Well, Pete will do!” And he called Heath Pete the rest of the time he was alive.

Don Johnson
Going to the fights during the fair with the Stirling Uncles

Tim Olds
Thanksgiving at Uncle Warren & Aunt Jackie’s sleeping everywhere in the house and waiting in line for restroom.

Kasey Stansfield

2010 Reunion--Toquerville, UT

We had another wonderful reunion thanks to the efforts of LaMar, Pam, Tim, Cheri, Aunt Sue & Uncle Clayton, Denise and everyone else! But, it wasn't the same without all of us there. We hope for the day when that becomes a possibility.

We learned several things in the events of the day....Jamie and Whitney are champions when it comes to pantyhose and pennies (just ask them)...Aunt Eldona is a good sport when it comes to getting in LaMar's Montero...Tim cooks a mean burger...we had gallons of delicious food=Stirling family cooks...we enjoyed site seeing at Aunt Darlene and Gene's home...we loved the babies (so glad a few of the third generation--Sierra, Chad, Kristy, Kasey and spouses--made it with their children)...BYU is a good sport, just ask Brandy...we have more babies coming up...Pam and Don have a workshop that equals a home...Cheri is creative when it comes with planning fun games...Dennis swept Teri off her feet...Kortney is graduating in May...Denise had the survey answers posted for a good laugh...ask Craig and Zachary about the squirrel and Uncle Olin's home...Toquerville Park is amazing (probably one of the best locations we have had to date!).

Now that all you that couldn't make it are jealous, we need your help. In two years we will have our next reunion. So, we need ideas for dates, locations and someone willing to be the planner. Don't be shy...

Pics will be coming soon!
