Memories of Aunt Jack & Uncle Warren

Magical Memories of Uncle Warren and Aunt Jackie

Once upon a time a Mesquite man married a spunky gal from Leeds/Hurricane,
Soon they settled in Henderson, Nevada,
Living close by Tom and Fawn,
In a duplex community named Carver Park.

Times were spent playing cards and visiting,
And who can forget the time when Aunt Jackie and Fawn
Gave Sandy a hair permanent
When she was barely old enough to sit up.

One day they decided to move on
and soon settled in California,
We all remember the little house that sat on a hill
In a town called Lemon Grove.

Memories of that home were plenty,
A Thanksgiving family reunion
Where Cindy and Sandy claimed the spot of carpet
Underneath the dining room table for slumber.

The front yard was a perfect spot for collecting snails in a jar,
On the wall of the home hung a large map of the United States,
In the back yard we made hand cranked homemade ice cream,
For breakfast we ate fresh, sliced peaches with cream.

At least once a year Warren, Jackie and family
Came to our home,
The parents would head out to Las Vegas
And the kids tried to stay out of trouble at home.

Later Chula Vista became their home
Where lemon trees and orange trees grew the best fruit,
And we sat out on the back patio and ate ice cream bars,
Of course Uncle Warren always had an R.C. Cola in hand.

The living room sported clocks of all sorts,
A guest bedroom hung muslin curtains made by Aunt Jack,
The small kitchen cooked many a meal to share
Carrot cake and cold carrot salad were the best!

Every year we would pile in the car
And drive to their home,
To spend time at the San Diego Zoo
And a San Diego Padres ball game where we munched on peanuts.

All were welcomed
And they were always willing to share,
Not only a smile, but their home and food,
And you always left with a lemon or two.

These are just some of the many memories we share! We love you!
